“For it is in giving that we receive.” St. Francis of Assisi
What is it that we don’t get about this concept? I definitely include myself in the previous “we”. Why is it that we don’t give more? The greatest minds in history agree on the simple principle.
“For true love is inexhaustible; the more you give, the more you have. And if you go to draw at the true fountainhead, the more water you draw, the more abundant is its flow.” Antoine De Saint-Exupery
I, personally, have proven this over and over in my life, but still don’t do it enough. Often, walking the streets of New York, I stop and hand a beggar a twenty. I like to give twenties because I know it can really make an impact on a life.

Here’s a guy I’ve worked with for several decades now. I play a decent acoustic guitar when my chops are together, but when I need a master guitarist, I call my friend Chieli (Key-eh-lee). If he’s not available, I change the session to when he is available.
He has a new and most exciting new CD that has just come out on Watchfire Music. If you want to get connected with some of the great music being written and played today, performed by all world-class musicians, download or purchase the CD, Without You, by Chieli Minucci and Special EFX now.

As creative director of Watchfire Music I usually spend my time touting our own artists, but recently I downloaded two CDs of inspirational music that are out of the WFM box and now deep in my waking and sleeping consciousness.
Two of my absolute heroes are Peter Gabriel and Bobby McFerrin and their music has been coursing through my brain now for days.
Ten-time Grammy Award winner/vocal innovator Bobby McFerrin surprises us yet again with VOCAbuLarieS
, his first new release in eight years. Like his #1 worldwide hit song Don’t Worry Be Happy and his multi-platinum duo album Hush
with cellist Yo-Yo Ma, VOCAbuLarieS is based on Bobby’s experiments with multi-track recording and his ceaseless exploration of the potential of the human voice. (more…)

Yes, I’m alive! I woke up this morning, heart still pounding, breath still coming. Lay there thinking. Wondering at the miracle of life.

I’m alive. The black pixilated letters appearing before me, one by one, on this screen prove it. I move one moment to the next, recording thoughts, correcting mistakes, typing on, wondering where it’s all going. Having no idea why it continues, a little nervous that if I think about it too deeply, I might discover something, a fallacy, perhaps, and then it just could stop.

Pardon my absence, but I’ve been up to my eyebrows in music.
Just this last weekend I had the great privilege to produce and direct a concert of Inspirational music for TMC Youth, an organization dedicated to opening up the horizons of spirituality for the youth of today.

In a 3-day weekend gathering of over 200 young people from mainly the East coast, but also from as far away as Africa and Europe, my task was to put together and spearhead an hour and a half of Inspirational music entertainment for their Saturday night blow-out.

You are the light of the world. Live your life as if this were true because it is true.
- But can you build something so grand, people will be drawn to you?
- God, use me as an instrument of thy peace.
- It’s much easier to be done than satisfied.
- Be not slothful in business, but fervent in Spirit – serving the Lord.

My son, Dustin and his lady friend, Lauren, took me to see Tim Burton’s Alice In Wonderland for Easter last night and I had a bit of a resurrection. I couldn’t take my eyes off the screen. I literally did not want to blink for fear of missing something.
Hats off to Mr. Burton and his fabulous international crew for making this picture. It could be the perfect story told in 3D. I fell right down the rabbit hole with that little girl and spent 2 delighted hours in Tim’s surrealistic dream.
The experience made me so grateful for my eyes, so grateful for this magical God-endowed gift called sight. What a trip – to be able to see! What a concept! When you really think about it, it’s our most precious gift besides simply being.
To be born blind must be one of life’s saddest tragedies, but to go blind must be even worse because then you know what you’re missing.

In the long run, what does it matter? Christianity’s biggest split seems to me to be was he or wasn’t he. Was Jesus God? Just doesn’t make sense. To me it seems like he was not.
Don’t mean to stir up a hornet’s nest here (or maybe I do), but I think a ton of people here got it wrong.
For my money, Jesus was the way-shower, the exemplar. He was sent here to be an example for us on the subject of how to live our lives. He was a human being just like us and that was the point. He showed us our potential – what we could be if we knew what he knew and practiced what he practiced.
He taught us how to think, how to treat our fellow man, how to heal, how to live.
